NOT IF YOU HAVE A GOOD TEACHER. Seriously, look into it at CPCC, see if you can get Dr. Cone as the instructor. He usually teaches a 9ish and 11ishAM classes, and aim for art history two, that'll have more of what you'll be interested in. BUT NO REALLY THESE ARE BASIC THINGS YOU NEED. I'd lend you my art history textbooks, BUT FREAKIN' PIPPIN STILL HAS THEM AND I WANT THOSE EXPENSIVE MOTHERFUCKERS BACK. And you're very welcome, good luck on your work! <3
girl, Im leaving CPCC after this semester. I HAVE NO NEED FOR ANY OF THESE THINGS. I cant even stomach this drawing 2 class, let alone art history. I would fail in a nano second.
lololololololol pippin, I think thats a call out baybay ;)
art history is really worth it though. it's boring as hell but it's worth the little things you pick up, especially if you want a career in the arts. it's good to know the basics, the people who mastered the basics, and just to know art from a different, historical perspective. plus leonardo davinchi and other cool dudes were pretty damned cool.
weeeelllll I switched majors (because I am a pussy, and once I got commission work, I realized that I would HATE to draw for a living. HATE IT OH GOD. plus, biiiiilllsssssss), so Im not in the art major anymore. I know that having a basic knowledge of the masters would be impressive but….eh…I just dont think I need it?
I AM AN UNCULTURED BASTARD. THE ART OF THE MASTERS IS WASTED ON ME. D:
mostly, I think Im just traumatized. Once in highschool, I sat through and art history class for some extra credit, and it just about put me into a coma of BORING. I hated it. I never want to see another classical painting ever agian after that class.
plus, it makes me jealous that I will never be that good IT JUST FRUSTRATES ME.
Awhile back on DA you mentioned having issues with deciding on a career path, considering you're taking a figure drawing class now, have you gotten any closer in deciding what you want to do...? Sorry if I'm bringing up unpleasant memories.
no no anon, its all good!
I actually copped out of sticking with the art major (I got too scared that I wouldnt be able to make money with an art degree, and that I would never be good enough), and switched to a psychology major. its just that at the moment, in order to transfer, I need a basic 2 year degree. Since I started with art, Ill finish with art, meaning I had two more art classes to go. I took the ones that I thought I would have the most fun with. So when I transfer to university for my psychology major, it will be with a 2 year art degree under my belt.
BUT I know I wont give up art forever. I was thinking once I get my masters, to work on art therapy. I hear that its getting quiet successful, especially in childrens psychoanalysis. time will tell though!
also, ANON, YOUR FROM DA? TELL ME WHO YOU ARE YOU WONDERFUL BEAUTIFUL PERSON THAT FOLLOWS MY PATHETIC DA OH MY GOD. <33333333 and the fact that you remember something I posted ages ago :)
“HOW DARE YOU NOT SHIP WHAT I SHIP. HOW DARE YOU THINK DIFFERENTLY. HOW DARE YOU NOT CONSTANTLY KISS THE ASS OF THE SERIES. HOW DARE YOU THINK THE SERIES IS PERFECT. HOW DARE YOU HATE/LOVE THIS CHARACTER. HOW DARE YOUUUUUUUUUU!!”
People can ship/love/hate/feel whatever the fuck they want. You like what you like and I’ll like what I like. Kapeesh? Y’all need to calm your tits.
