jessiphia replied to your post: Had to take down another sign in our yard about protecting traditional marriage and traditional families by denying others their right to marry.they kinda pay the bills though, so I really don’t think you should have much of a say in the matter, you know?
Well then they shouldn’t have a say in denying others their right to marry who they please. All their reasons for voting for this are religiously motivated, there is no secular argument against allowing gay marriage and they will not be hurt or effected really at all by this and they need to stop imposing their outdated views on others.
You’re right, they do pay the bills and so have the right to put whatever they want up in their yard. But since this matter effects me more so then them, I have the right to take down the sign.
Mostly I’m mad and hurt that they, knowing how I feel about this, would go ahead and put up a sign like that, and then every time we pass one denouncing the amendment make some snide remark, like I’m going to agree. I don’t know why they’re so fucking invested in this, but they need to get out this is not for them to decide.
I see your ‘need for social justice’ and raise you a ‘but its still their house man’.
like. I get it. thats kinda messed up. I mean, they KNOW how you feel about that kind of stuff and they know you wouldnt like that sign being up and thats not really nice.
but at the same time. its their property and thier right to display whatever they want? I know that if I had a daughter and she lived with me and didnt pay rent or anything and if I put up a pro-gay marriage sign and she constantly took it down because she didnt feel that way, I would be pretty miffed.
Its different if its YOUR house dude. You can do whatever the fuck you want, and have the right to. However, this really doesnt seem like the case here.
Also, what do you hope to achieve? what will the outcome of this be? Do you think your grandparents will change their mind? do you think people are actually paying attention to that sign in the first place? Think about it, the chances of someone seeing that sign and CHANGING their opinion about what they may or may not vote on is slim to none. Chances are, whether the sign is up or not, it will change NOTHING. so why worry about it and go out of your way to rip it out?
Im just being realistic, and also do not want you to get in trouble with the rents. it just seems like its not even worth it.
also, if you REALLY wanted to change something, YOU WOULD VOTE. hint hint.
